Test, Test. UPDATE: Yamaha RD-400, '56 Matchless & '78 Honda 550K...

Most excited about the Honda. Duh. Spoke with Ralph this morning for about 20 minutes before I went into work...(great way to start a morning btw.) Seems like a nice older fellow, (at least one who coaches little league and buys his sons Honda 70cc sport bikes for fun AND loved roller derby as a young man!) who also bought this bike for his wife a few years back from the original owner who had it sitting covered in his garage from '78 to '82. (What?!)...so she could commute to work in Sunnyvale and so they could ride "side-by-side, with me on my Goldwing and cruise together" as he said it. Wifey apparently wasn't into it. Sorta sat around for a bit. He tore much of it apart, put it back together, cleaned all carbs, good lines, flushed brakes, all good. Also found out the "K" means the gas tank is a little bigger than other Honda 550's...what that means for gas mileage? Ummmm, I dunno.
In fact, dude so rad even offered to let me test ride his sons' fun sporty bikes and even went so far as to invite me out to cruise with him sometime. Man just wants to journey. Gotta love it.
Otherwise, Ben and I are going to check out these two bikes this weekend in Auburn...
Above, 1956 Matchless. Below, 19?? Yamaha RD-400.
Maybe get some soft serve ice cream with Grams and forage around my parents' property for parts and treasure. Gary, another nice older gentleman, owns both these bikes and appears to have a vast collection of Hondas, mostly sport bikes, which he shows at fairs n' shit. He too offered to hang and chat bikes and test drive should it come up in converstaion. Oh yeah Gar, it will.
